King Charles III’s First Trooping the Colour as Monarch

On 17 June 2023, London’s Horse Guards Parade witnessed its most splendid spectacle yet King Charles III took centre stage in his first Trooping the Colour as reigning monarch. More than 1,500 soldiers, 300 horses, and 400 musicians paraded beneath a summer sky while the Royal Family watched from Buckingham Palace’s balcony. A flypast of historic aircraft capped the ceremony, celebrating the King’s official birthday in style. It was a blend of timeless tradition and royal pageantry, reaffirming the Crown’s enduring place in British life.
