LONDON – Music lovers, diplomats, community leaders, and distinguished guests gathered at the historic St James’s Church Piccadilly on Saturday evening for a captivating piano recital by internationally acclaimed Turkish Cypriot pianist Rüya Taner, who presented her celebrated concert programme, Sweet Waters of Asia (Asya’nın Tatlı Suları).
The special performance, inspired by the rich cultural heritage and ancient trade routes of the Silk Road, offered audiences a unique musical journey across civilizations that have connected East and West for centuries. Through an evocative repertoire blending classical traditions with cultural influences from the regions traversed by the Silk Road, Taner delivered a memorable evening that highlighted the universal language of music.
The concert attracted a distinguished audience, including Türkiye’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Representative in London, Aysan Mullahasan, Director of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü London, Dr Mehmet Karakuş, representatives of various non-governmental organisations, members of the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot communities, diplomats, academics, artists, and piano enthusiasts from across London.
