Turkish Breakfast Showcased in London as Part of Turkish Cuisine Week

LONDON – A special event promoting the rich traditions of Turkish breakfast was held in London as part of Turkish Cuisine Week and World Breakfast Day celebrations.

Hosted by Türkiye’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Osman Koray Ertaş, and his wife Sevcan Ertaş at the Turkish Embassy Residence, the gathering brought together members of the diplomatic corps, academics, journalists, representatives of civil society organizations, and members of the Turkish community.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ertaş emphasized the important place breakfast holds in Turkish society, noting that Türkiye takes great pride in its diverse and vibrant breakfast culture.

“Turkish breakfast is more than just a meal,” Ertaş said. “It is a social occasion where families and friends come together, spend time with one another, and share both their joys and challenges.”

The ambassador highlighted the variety of traditional breakfast items that make Turkish breakfast unique and underscored its role in strengthening social bonds and preserving cultural heritage.

He also drew attention to the central place of Turkish tea and Turkish coffee in the country’s cultural life, describing them as essential elements of hospitality and daily social interaction.

Guests at the event were offered a selection of Turkey’s signature breakfast delicacies, providing an opportunity to experience firsthand one of the country’s most cherished culinary traditions.

The event aimed to raise awareness of Turkish gastronomy and highlight the cultural significance of breakfast as an integral part of Türkiye’s rich culinary heritage.
