The historic Turkish restaurant opens its doors near Harrods, bringing more than 150 years of culinary heritage to the heart of London.
A legendary name in Turkish cuisine has arrived in London. Kebapçı İskender, the celebrated restaurant founded in Bursa in 1867, has opened its doors on Beauchamp Place in Knightsbridge, just a short walk from Harrods.
The opening marks a significant milestone for the family-run business, which has spent generations preserving the culinary legacy of İskender kebab, one of Turkey’s most iconic dishes.

Led by Yavuz İskenderoğlu and his sons Oğuzhan İskenderoğlu, Kayhan İskenderoğlu the new London restaurant brings the family’s celebrated tradition to one of the capital’s most prestigious neighbourhoods. The opening follows the success of the brand’s established restaurants in Bursa and Istanbul, where its signature dishes have attracted generations of diners.
A century-old tradition finds a new home in London
The Knightsbridge restaurant occupies an impressive three-storey premises, representing a substantial investment of millions of pounds in bringing the historic Turkish brand to the British capital.

At the heart of the experience is the restaurant’s signature İskender kebab: thinly sliced lamb döner served over pieces of pide bread, generously covered with tomato sauce and finished with sizzling melted butter. Traditionally accompanied by yoghurt and roasted aubergine, the dish embodies the rich flavours and distinctive presentation that have made İskender kebab famous across Turkey and beyond.
For the İskenderoğlu family, the London opening is more than an international expansion. It is an opportunity to introduce a new audience to a culinary tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Bringing the taste of Bursa to Knightsbridge
Beyond its signature kebab, the restaurant is expected to showcase the flavours of traditional Turkish cuisine, including classic desserts such as Kemalpaşa, a syrup-soaked delicacy associated with the Bursa region, traditionally served with thick clotted cream.

The arrival of Kebapçı İskender adds another dimension to London’s increasingly diverse dining scene, bringing a piece of Bursa’s gastronomic heritage to an international audience.
With its prime Knightsbridge location, three floors of dining space and a family legacy stretching back to the 19th century, the restaurant is poised to introduce London’s diners to one of Turkey’s most enduring culinary institutions.

For London, it is a taste of Bursa. For the İskenderoğlu family, it is the continuation of a tradition that began more than 150 years ago.
