The Silent Language of the Female Body Became a Book
A journey into a woman’s body, memory, and inner voice
Bulgarian-born author Resmie Ismail brings together biology, life experiences, and inner awareness in her new book, exploring the unseen world of women through a compelling narrative.
LONDON
Bulgarian-born author Resmie Ismail, who lives in the United Kingdom, brings together years of observations, her experience of motherhood, her migration story, and the often unseen struggles of women in her book titled “Whispers of Hormones.”
The work written by Ismail, a mother of two, is not merely a study of hormonal changes in the female body; it is also an inner journey that explores the psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of being a woman in the modern world.
Pointing out that emotional changes experienced by women during certain periods of their lives are often misunderstood, Ismail establishes a strong connection between biological processes and emotional awareness throughout the book.

“This book grew within me for years”
Speaking to London The Best Magazine, author Resmie Ismail described the process behind the creation of the book in the following words:
“This book was not written in a single day. In fact, it accumulated within me over many years. As a woman who migrated, I lived in different cultures, became a mother, and took part in the demanding pace of professional life. I observed the women around me. I observed myself. Over time, I realized that many women do not understand the reasons behind the changes they experience. Sometimes they blame themselves, sometimes they feel inadequate, and sometimes they think they are alone. Yet the body has its own language. In this book, I wanted to make that silent language visible.”
The invisible calendar of the female body
“Whispers of Hormones” presents readers not only with scientific information but also with an emotional narrative that unfolds through characters and life stories.
Through the life of Alara, one of the central characters of the book, the cyclical nature of the female body is explored, while the modern world’s expectations of linear success are also questioned.
Throughout the work, readers are reminded that the female body goes through different phases each month and that these changes are not shortcomings but part of a natural rhythm.
A remarkable life story
In one of the book’s most striking sections, Alara’s realization deeply resonates with readers:
“For years, I thought there was something wrong with me. I moved between days when I felt strong and days when I felt fragile. Then I realized that it was not me who was changing; I simply did not know how to listen to the story my body was trying to tell me.”
This passage forms one of the book’s central messages. The work argues that before women try to change themselves, they should first seek to understand themselves.
Biology, psychology, and culture meet on the same pages
The book does not focus solely on hormonal processes. Women’s psychology, stress management, motherhood, self-compassion, social roles, inner balance, and life rhythms are among its key themes.
According to Ismail, modern society expects women to perform at the same level continuously. However, the female body functions not through a linear system but through a cyclical one.
The author summarizes this perspective with the following words:
“Women do not need to be fixed. They need to understand themselves. Because sometimes the body speaks before words do.”
A call for cultural awareness
Addressing women’s health and hormonal awareness—topics that experts have increasingly highlighted in recent years—through a literary narrative, “Whispers of Hormones” moves from an individual story to a universal female experience.
Shaped around migration, motherhood, professional life, the search for identity, and personal transformation, the book serves as a powerful invitation for women to rediscover their bodies, emotions, and life rhythms.
Author Resmie Ismail summarizes the essence of her book with these words:
“There is a voice inside every woman waiting to be heard. Whispers of Hormones is the story of those who dare to listen.”
