Donald Trump’s UK Visit: Diplomacy, Splendour and Disagreements
In recent days, US President Donald Trump paid an official visit to the United Kingdom. His first stop was Windsor Castle, where he attended a state banquet and took part in ceremonial events that highlighted Britain’s tradition of diplomacy and pageantry. In the following days, his meetings with Prime Minister Keir Starmer focused on the Palestinian question, trade, economy, migration, and security.

State Banquet at Windsor Castle: Trump Impressed by Royal Splendour
One of the most memorable moments of Trump’s visit was the state banquet at Windsor Castle. Hosted by the Royal Family, the event stood out for its historic atmosphere and carefully prepared menu.
The President laid a wreath at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II inside St George’s Chapel, calling it “a great honour.” He also toured the castle’s art collections and said he was particularly impressed by Renaissance paintings.
The banquet menu included Hampshire watercress panna cotta with parmesan shortbread, quail egg salad, Norfolk organic chicken ballotine with sage and thyme, and Kent raspberry sorbet with Victoria plums. “I ate whatever was served, everything was perfect,” Trump remarked after the dinner, calling Windsor Castle “an unforgettable experience.”

Disagreement on Palestine Between Trump and Starmer
On the second day of the visit, Trump met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and addressed the Palestinian issue during a joint press conference. Referring to reports that the UK was preparing to formally recognise the State of Palestine, Trump made it clear he did not support the decision.
“I don’t agree with the Prime Minister on this issue. In fact, it’s one of the few differences we have,” he said. Trump stressed that Hamas should release all hostages immediately, but avoided commenting on Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
Trade and Economy Talks: Post-Brexit Opportunities
Economic relations were also high on the agenda of Trump and Starmer’s talks. Trump stated: “The UK is a very important trade partner for us. We are ready to work on a stronger and fairer deal.”
Starmer emphasised that Britain aimed to boost cooperation with the US in energy, technology and defence. Renewable energy and artificial intelligence were highlighted as key areas of collaboration.
Migration and Security: No Step Back from Tough Measures
Migration and security were also discussed during the visit. Trump declared: “The United States’ border and national security are my number one priority. We will not compromise on this.”
Starmer underlined that the UK faced similar challenges, particularly the rising number of illegal crossings through the English Channel. He said Britain would continue to share expertise and information with the US.
